You’re playing alongside HOOPS DJs and M.A.F.I.A for the G-SHOCK: Shock The World Tour and you’ve been approached to design your own G-SHOCK watch. What can we expect?
The watch will look like a piece of futuristic Filipino tribal warrior armor. Guard your grill!

Where did you find inspiration for your design?
I celebrate 20 years of DJing this December so my creative at the moment is based on All the shit I’ve done since 89’

How fashionable is a watch? How necessary are they as an accessory?
Uncle Flava Flav taught me the time on when I was on tour with P.E. in 98’ so I’ve never needed a watch. This will be my first watch I’ve ever worn.

If you could put your fashion style in a ‘genre’ what would it be? (e.g. Indie / Vintage / Chic)
I was born and raised a hip-hop kid. Future/roots.

Who are your fashion icons?
Raja Kulambo (Filipino chieftain warrior from 800AD) and Flava Flav.

What do you think people should NOT wear in public?
Flammable underpants.

What are your favourite places to find good threads?
Hong Kong, Tokyo, Lisboa or EBay when I can be assed with customs.

G-SHOCK Shock the world parties have had Kayne DJ and a whole host of other big names, what is the best exclusive party you have played? What makes a party a success?
Blood, kisses, vomit, smiles and the occasional pony.

Which city in the world has the best parties?
From the 2,469,501 cities in world, I have played in 2,469,500 of them. So not sure. Probably the city of Brandon, Manitoba.

What type of tracks should we expect DJ DEXTER to play at G-SHOCK: Shock The World Tour?
Rudeboy lover’s beats.

Who are your favourite DJs and why?
Kuya, because he created the first halftime juggle (dubstep tempo) in the world back in 98 using Aaliyahs, Try again instrumental.

Dizz1, because he is sexy and always has been even before all of you didn’t know how talented he always has been. Check his EP, and he broke his neck and lived.

What’s next for DJ DEXTER after G-SHOCK?
I am currently working on my 20-year retrospective tour. The tour will encompass. DJing, production and collaborations I have worked on over my career. These include, Grrilla Step, Curse the Machines, DMC comp routines and special national and international guests.

DJ Dexter will perform live DJ sets along with HOOPS DJs and M.A.F.I.A. for the G-SHOCK: Shock The World Tour in Sydney on 19th November at CarriageWorks. Visit www.g-shocksydney.com for more information.
